There are a few sci-fi series that described exactly the wars that Dave Brodbeck discussed. C.J. Cherryh's Company Wars books are probably the most on point. The first came out in 1981, the latest in 2009. In the books there are three very different human communities; and most of the issues come from an inability to understand each other.

Also in that vein is most of Azimov's Robot series, which is set in a world where the Earthbound and the Spacers have become very different, to the point of war (almost).

Another great podcast though, as enjoyable as always.

Dave Brodbeck was created by man, there are many copies, he looks just like us, and he has a plan.

The prediction by Dan (I think) about living in pods, etc reminded me for some reason of The Matrix and everyone living only through their minds.
In the movie we are placed there involuntarily. I wonder if a similar thing would ever be popular voluntarily.
Thanks for the podcast, guys. I'm still half way through it.....

You know, I don't like the box office record metric for determining film attendance success. Of more interest is the list adjusted for inflation. Seems more realistic to me.

I guess Avatar will keep marching up the list over time, but it's not number one yet. And Titanic is only sixth on the list.
